Patients flee from rehabilitation centre, allege torture by staff in Barpeta road.

Pathsala: A group of patients fled away from a rehabilitation centre located at Barpeta Road after allegedly being beaten by staff members.

As per reports, the patients were allegedly beaten by an iron road, bamboo sticks, and sharp weapons in the centre.

The youths who fled along with the family reached the police station to lodge a complaint.

Several youths were badly injured and alleged that the staff members of the centre used to beat them.

Locals alleged the rehabilitation centre doesn’t have a licence, or permission to run.

They also don’t have proper documents, doctors and rooms, or medical facilities.

The centre is run with two beds.

The owner of the centre changed Rs 10,000 to 12,000 per month from the parents in the name of treatment of the patients.

Family members allege that the centre is run by Faridul Haque who himself was a patient in a rehabilitation centre.

Six months ago he came out from a different rehabilitation centre.

They also alleged that there are many such fake centres in the area.

Meanwhile, the victims’ families have lodged a complaint against the owner at Barpeta Road police station.
