Assam’s BJP politician and Tezpur Lok Sabha MP Pallab Lochan Das has featured in the latest cover story of the India Today magazine that has carried an article on first time MPs.
The India Today cover reads, ‘The New Brigade: First Time MPs make up half the new Lok Sabha and hope to bring the change India needs’.
The cover story tells that the 41-year-old BJP leader’s hobbies are reading books, listening to music and playing badminton.
The magazine listed his priorities as developing infrastructure, setting up educational, vocational and cultural institutes in Tezpur and policy changes for small tea planters.
A commerce graduate, Das’s father worked as a clerk at a tea garden, mother is a homemaker and wife is a school teacher.
The magazine declares his assets to be Rs one crore. It also reported that he became an MLA at the age of 33 and was spotted by Himanta Biswa Sarma as a young tea garden leader.
Das won the Tezpur Lok Sabha seat this year by a total of 684166 votes defeating his nearest Congress rival and former bureaucrat MGVK Bhanu.
