Continuing with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to empower the needy through skill development; ONGC Assam Asset, in association with its All India SC/ST Employees Welfare Association (AISCSTEWA), launched a series of skill development programmes on Sunday.

Under the programme under which, beautician training to 50 women; stitching, cutting/tailoring & embroidery training to 30 women, diploma in computer application to 30 students will be imparted under ONGC’s annual SC/ST component plan 2018-19.

After successful completion of the training programs, a sewing machine and a beautician kit will be provided to the women beneficiaries enabling them to earn a respected livelihood.

Executive director-asset manager, ONGC, Assam Asset S D Maske launched the programme on February 17, 2019 at ONGC, Sivasagar in presence of senior ONGCians, officials from AISCSTEWA, representatives from collectives and a large numbers of local people from the surrounding areas.

On the occasion, the executive director distributed 135 sewing machines to the beneficiaries who had successfully completed the training on cutting-tailoring during the year 2018.

Further, extending support to the daily wagers, ONGC provided bicycles to 200 beneficiaries on the occasion, aimed to ease their daily commuting to earn livelihood.

Speaking on the occasion, ED-asset manager, S D Maske reiterated that ONGC is a caring company and committed to spread smiles among the deserving beneficiaries in the society, especially in and around its operational areas.

Energizing the lives of the needy by ONGC, Assam Asset is a classic and innovative example of the company’s commitment towards the society, he added.

Maske appreciated the initiative taken by team AISCSTEWA for this effort to foster self-employment through skill development benefiting hundreds of needy people. While emphasizing women as the backbone of the family and the bedrock of a nation to promote nation building Maske also mentioned that ONGC, through its CSR initiatives, always aims to extend support for women empowerment and bringing equality in the society.

He urged all the beneficiaries to take maximum benefit from the skill acquired from the training programmes.

P R Mili, honorary president, AISCSTEWA, ONGC profusely thanked ONGC for extending support to the needy and underprivileged of the society.
