Apart from this fuel efficient cooking competition for domestic helps and cooks, free vehicle pollution checks for the public, refinery steam leak survey by Industry experts, publication of conservation articles in leading newspapers along with a talk show on energy conservation by MD NRL SK Barua on FM radio were some of the other activities carried out for spreading the fuel conservation message.
“Fossil fuels will not last forever. We, as consumers of energy –be it LPG at our homes or petrol /diesel in our vehicles, have to be very conscious in optimally using these energy sources, so that we can sustain them for longer and create a greener environment for ourselves, the nation and the generations to come, ” Barua said in his Saksham message to the employees.
SAKSHAM (Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav) 2019 campaign was spearheaded by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, government of India which was observed from January 16 to February 15 to create awareness on fuel conservation through people centric activities and to sensitize the masses about the efficient utilization of petroleum products for better health and environment.

Various activities were undertaken across the company and its neighbouring areas during the month-long campaign laying greater emphasis on students, household helpers, drivers, fleet operators along with its employees for better propagation of the cause.
The campaign began with the conservation pledge being administered by employees across the Company, quiz competition & various awareness drives were conducted throughout the refinery units whereas street plays were organised in nearby market places and extempore cum quiz competitions in schools nearby the refinery at Numaligarh.
