The Northeast Frontier Railway Employees Union, Silchar Branch, on Sunday evening postered the whole of Silchar station in the Barak district of Assam with writings on the wall, of ‘transfer station superintendent’, ‘women employees of Silchar railway station not safe under his administration’, ‘shame, shame station superintendent’, and the likes.

Till Monday evening, these posters depicted a sorry figure of the affairs of this station. To delve deep into it, this correspondent spoke exclusively to Arun Kumar Mahato, joint secretary of NFR Employees Union, who informed that, about a month back, station superintendent, Biplab Das, posted ‘nude’ photographs of porn stars through Whatsapp to their official group, which even went upto divisional railway manager (DRM).

“Even after one month, no action has been taken by the railway authorities against such an unpardonable act, for which, we have made public his activities in running the affairs of this station”, said Arun Kumar Mahato.

In his defense, talking to Northeast Now, station manager, Biplab Das, acknowledged that such posts were indeed forwarded from his own personal mobile, but, countered by saying that someone must have ‘hacked’ his Whatsapp account and carried out this disgraceful ct.

“I have lodged an FIR at Silchar’s Tarapur town outpost immediately after that, but, till date nothing has been investigated. I will go to superintendent of police Cachar and approach his cyber crime wing. Whatever, be the case, I am thinking of approaching a legal team to file a case against the employees union for tarnishing my image by postering in the whole of Silchar station on Sunday night,” said, Biplab Das.

Meanwhile, another union, NFR Mazdoor Union’s Silchar Branch, speaking to this correspondent said, “Anyone can put up a poster and vent their anger or anguish. We have nothing against the NFR Employees Union, but, it was a departmental issue and should not have been made public such ‘allegations’. It is highly condemnable to write those words in the open not against a person, but, against a post of authority,” said, Sajal Chakraborty, organizing secretary of NFR Mazdoor Union’s central committee.
