The Kokrajhar Police and the 12 Sikh Li battalion of the Army, during a joint operation, nabbed a cadre of the anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S) in Bhawraguri village under Karigaon Outpost in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday night.
The arrested NDFB(S) cadre has been identified as Jayanta Narzary alias N. Jawglang from whose possession arms and ammunition were recovered.
According to Kokrajhar Police, the joint operation team was led by Punamjit Nath, Deputy Superintendent of Police (P).
The Kokrajhar Police stated that based on a specific input about movement of cadres of the anti-talk faction of the NDFB (S) in Bhawraguri village under Karigaon Outpost in Kokrajhar, the joint operation was launched in the general area of the village in the evening on Tuesday.
“Multiple ambushes and naka were laid by the joint operations team. At around 9 PM, an individual on a bike was apprehended. During spot interrogation, the identity of the person was revealed as 24-year-old Jayanta Narzary alias N. Jawglang, son of late Ranjan Narzary, a resident of No.1 Kusumbil (Soraibil) under Gossaigaon Police Station,” informed police.
Kokrajhar District Police also informed that one .22 pistol, five rounds of .22 live ammunition, one hand grenade, one mobile phone, one Bajaj Discover bike and other incriminating materials were recovered from the possession of the arrested NDFB(S) cadre.
In this connection, a case has been registered at Kokrajhar Police Station vide No. 540/2018.
The police also informed that the arrested NDFB(S) cadre, Jayanta Narzary alias N. Jawglang, is a hardcore cadre of the 42nd batch of the militant outfit and infiltrated into Kokrajhar district during November and December, 2017 from Myanmar.
“He is involved in many activities in the last one year. Further investigation is going on,” stated Kokrajhar Police.
