In a sensational incident, a gang of miscreants allegedly tried to break open and take into possession the ‘Swing Hall’, a marriage and party hall cum restaurant in the wee hours of Friday.
One Suresh Sarma is the owner of the hall.
Talking to Northeast Now about the whole incident, Dipu Das, manager of the owner Suresh Sarma said around 40 men were in the gang that came to break open the hall.
“They broke the locks of the doors with gas cutter and tried to take possession. But as soon as our caretaker Raju Kalita, who stays in the same building, got the cognizance and informed us and we informed police,” said Das.
Das further disclosed that Dispur Police nabbed five of the miscreants on the spot including one Rajshekhar Burhagohain who in 2014 had sold the land of three kathas to Suresh Sarma.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged at Dispur police station in this connection.
Police have registered a case and investigation is on.
