A minor girl belonging to Assam’s Dhubri was rescued from Palghar in Maharashtra, the police said on Tuesday.
Dhubri Superintendent of Police Gaurav Abhijit Dilip said that the minor girl was lured into an affair before being kidnapped by a person belonging to Maharashtra.
Although the accused of the case was arrested by the Assam Police with help from Maharashtra Police, he was granted bail by the court.
This is the fifth successful rescue operation of Dhubri Police conducted outside the state in the last three months.
Earlier few girls were rescued from Rajasthan, Haryana, West Bengal.
Over the days, there have been several reports of girls being abducted from the area and most of them are then forced into the flesh trade.
An active human trafficking racket is said to be active in the bordering area and efforts to nab all persons involved in the illegal activities have been on for quite a long time.
