Guwahati: The Assam Police have nabbed a minor boy from the state’s Karimganj district for allegedly attempting to rape a toddler.
The police have booked the 15-year-old accused under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The accused had allegedly tried to rape the three-year-old girl when he came to her house on Sunday (September 1, 2024) evening on the pretext of playing games with her.
The boy tried to commit the crime when the minor girl’s mother went out for sometime but as she returned, she discovered the bare bodied accused trying to undress her daughter.
On seeing the girl’s mother arrive, the boy tried to escape from the scene, but was caught by the locals.

The girl’s parents claimed they immediately went to the police station to lodge a complaint but were asked to return home by some policemen.
However, the parents narrated the whole incident to other police officials who in turn informed their higher ups. It was only after that a case was registered.
Police investigation into the matter is underway.
