Guwahati: A communal clash between two communities, (Hindu and Muslim) in Bamunbari village near Kayakuchi, Barpeta district resulted in many people being hospitalized.
As per the direction of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, PHE minister Jayanta Mallah Baruah on Wednesday visited Bamunbari Village and reviewed the prevailing law and order situation.

He also visited Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta to meet injured victims.
Baruah told reporters: “I arrived here today as per the directive of CM. I reviewed the situation. We directed the police to book all culprits involved in it. A case has been registered. I hope the arrest will be made today itself. A video footage was also received. We have also evidence.”
“We are reviewing the situation. There are allegations of unknown persons into the village. The reason behind the incident will be investigated,” Baruah said.

“We are taking legal action. We will also find out who is behind the incident. There will be no insecurity of indigenous people under the leadership of chief minister Himanfta Biswa Sarma. Our main responsibility is to protect the mainstream Assamese people,” he added.
He also tweeted, “Yesterday, a distressing incident unfolded in Bamunbari village near Kayakuchi, Barpeta, where 3 individuals fell victim to a violent assault. Today, as per the instruction of Hon’ble CM Dr. @himantabiswa, I met with the affected family to offer support and gain insight into the situation. Alongside, visited Fakaruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College, Barpeta to check on the well-being of the victims undergoing treatment. Also, reviewed the incident with the Barpeta police and administration and directed them to take immediate and necessary actions to apprehend all the culprits promptly.”
As per reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday following a dispute between two school students turned into a communal clash between two communities.
People who were seriously injured were admitted to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta.
Reports indicate that a group hailing from a minority community in Shurpara village stormed into Bamunbari, brandishing weapons including sticks, sickles, axes, and jathi-jongs, before launching the attack on a faction of the indigenous family.
To take control of the situation, multiple police units and the CRPF were deployed in the area.
A video regarding the incident went viral on social media where two groups were seen fighting with each other carrying bamboo.
