A major fire at Lahorighat in Assam’s Morigaon district on Wednesday night ravaged at least seven houses.
According to information, the inferno first broke out at the residence of one Hafjur Rahman at around 10:15 pm on Wednesday night.

The fire took no time to spread to adjacent houses and within a very short time it engulfed in its flames at least seven houses.
The fire caused massive damage to the houses resulting in loss of property worth lakhs including livestock.
Several important documents and cash were also damaged in the inferno.

However, the officer in charge of Lahorighat police station have assured the affected families not to panic about the documents that they have lost in the fire.
Meanwhile, locals have flayed the absence of fire services department at Lahorighat.
On the other hand, the residents have urged the authorities to compensate the affected families at the earliest.
