Sensation prevails across Lakhimpur district after a college-going girl received serious injuries in an acid attack by two youths near Bandardewa area of the district on Monday.

According to information, the victim girl was attacked by two youths with acid on her way when she was returning home from Sankardev College.

Sources said, the seriously injured girl, who was attacked by the two youths came in an Alto car, has been taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for better treatment.

The family members of the victim girl have alleged that the youths attacked her as she had rejected a marriage proposal.

On the other hand, immediately after the acid attack on the college student, the students of Sankardev College and the locals came out in protest against the incident and enforced a road blockade on the National Highway 15 at Pathali Pahar area.

The protestors demanded that immediate action be taken by police against the criminals involved in the acid attack on the college girl.

The police also started investigation with immediate effect and were able to arrest one Pappu Bora, the main accused who was allegedly involved in the attack.

The police informed the media persons that they are trying to get more details about the accused, who has allegedly been involved in the acid attack on the girl student of Sankardev College.
