A one-day Tribal Artisan Mela was organized by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) at PWD guest House in Kokrajhar of Assam on Monday.
Various handloom, handicraft, cane & bamboo products etc were exhibited at the mela.

Around 100 tribal handloom and handicraft artisans were also empanelled at the Mela.
Pratibha Brahma, vice chairman, attended the function as chief guest and inaugurated the one-day mela in presence of other dignitaries and artisans.
The programme was also attended by G Arumugam, deputy manager (Commercial), National Handloom Development Corporation Limited.

In her speech Brahma said TRIFED is a national level apex organization under direct control of Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India engaged for sourcing and marketing of tribal handicraft and handloom items through its retail outlets located all over the country as well as through holding exhibitions in all over the India so that large market could be provide to the tribal people of the country.
She said the tribal artisan mela was organized to encourage tribal artisans especially from remote villages and empowerment of tribal artisans.
“TRIFED provides a wider range of platforms to sell their products with a direct link & contact with customers, from whom the artisans gets inputs like latest market trends and the products that are in demand, which ultimately helps the tribal artisans to make the products accordingly to match the taste of the customers so that those products are sold and gives them immediate returns,” she said.
