An important meeting was held on Thursday between Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan district and the representatives of 12 higher educational institutions of the district at Circuit House in Guwahati regarding the three days celebration of Independence Day in the institutions.
Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal advised to the representatives of educational institutions to organize competition of patriotic solo and group songs and poster competition on the theme of Swachh Bharat amongst their students on August 13 and to organize quiz competition on the theme of freedom movement of India on August 14.
He also appealed to the institutions for co-operation regarding the ongoing Swachh Survekshan Grameen – 2018.
As many as 10 villages of each district will participate in the ongoing Swachh Survekshan Grameen – 2018 and they will be awarded on the basis of cleanliness in the survey.
The Deputy Commissioner also asked them to download mobile app SSG-18 and spread the message amongst the students of their respective institutions.
It is worth mentioning that Deputy Commissioner Mittal also requested them to organize small awareness meeting amongst the students in their respective institutions regarding the theme of road safety, time management, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao etc where the Deputy Commissioner will be present himself.
ADC Kamrup Metro P P Bora, Inspector of Schools Buli Gogoi Bhuyan, Assistant Commissioner B Barua, Principal GMC Dr A K Adhikari, Director of Student Welfare Gauhati University Dr Ranjan Kakati along with the representatives of Cotton University, IIT Guwahati, Handique Girls College etc were present in the meeting.
