Assam: JNV, Darrang principal bags National Teachers’ Award

Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Udmari, P Rajesh, of Assam’s Darrang district has been selected for the National Teacher’s Award-2018.

The award is being instituted by the Ministry of HRD, government of India.

P Rajesh is the only teacher selected for this prestigious award among all the applicant teachers representing nearly six hundred JNVs across the country.

The award carries a certificate of merit, a silver medal and a cash prize of Rs 50.000.

The award will be presented at a special award ceremony organized on the occasion of Teachers’ Day celebration in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The news of selection of P Rajesh for the National Teacher Award has made the students, teaching and non-teaching staff of JNV, Darrang besides the parents, members of Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC) jubilant.

“P Rajesh, a teacher with more than 20 years experience joined JNV, Darrang as the principal some two years back and as a principal vibrant change has been made in the Vidyalaya both in scholastic and co- scholastic areas,” said Ashok Kr Barman, the former deputy commissioner of Darrang over phone.

Barman was closely associated with JNV, Darrang during his tenure as the chairman of the VMC.

“In the year 2018 JNV Darrang has been made highest improvement in the result of CBSE examination under Guwahati Cluster,” Barman added.

“He really deserves such recognition and I offer my congratulation to him on this very special occasion of his professional career,” the former Darrang deputy commissioner further said.

JNV Darrang has received Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar by MHRD in the year 2018.

Appreciation Award has been received for the highest registration in JNVST 2019 under Shillong Region.

Similarly, Debika Dutta , a senior colleague of P Rajesh said, “Being the first position holder in International Diploma in Guidance and Counselling (conducted by Commonwealth of Learning in Collaboration with NCERT New Delhi) has contributed handsomely to support the emotional strain of the residential school children in the Navodaya System.”

“As a Master Trainer in Life skill Education (By NIMHANS Bangalore) P Rajesh has organized training programmes for students and teachers and also served as a resource person in various induction and in-service training programmes organized by NVS,” he added.

P Rajesh had organized two training programmes in the Vidyalaya for Samsung Smart Lab for the principals of Shillong and Patna Regions of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

“He organised inspiring community service activities with the help of the students like helping poor farmers in planting paddy saplings and harvesting, helping the orphans, plantation and cleaning drive in the community,” Dutta added.

“The whole family of JNV, Darrang today is jubilant over his great achievement,” Dutta further said.

P Rajesh, as an inspiring teacher has been able to do complete justice to his responsibility by producing excellent subject average at national level in Class XII Economics CBSE Examination.

He was earlier honoured with National Award for the Best Teacher by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti ( NVS) for the year 2012.

He is also the recipient of Guru Param and Guru Shreshtha Award for Academic excellence from NVS followed by  National Excellence Award by economic growth Foundation in the year 2017.
