Talking to media, Abdul Matin’s father on Sunday said, “If he was involved in this network (of jihadists), then he should be severely punished as per law.”

Alleged Jamaat ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) operative Matin, who is a resident of Barpeta’s Bhawanipur area under Barpeta district of Assam, was arrested from Kerala’s Mallapuram area for his alleged involvement in Burdwan blast case in the year 2014.

“As we know he was an innocent boy. If Abdul is associated with any militant organization, he should be punished as per law. Due to same family matter, we don’t have any link with him since the last three years,” said Abdul’s father Abdus Sattaur, who works as a teacher at Pahumara Higher Secondary School in Koragari village.

In the year 2016, Abdul visited his village along with his wife, who hails from Kisanganj in Bihar.

Abdul is the eldest among his siblings, Abdus further informed.
