The Chief Electoral Officer, Assam is organizing a state level inter institution quiz competition, christened ‘EQ…the Election Quotient’, among the students of Class XI to PG level on Sunday next at the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Auditorium, IIT Guwahati.
The quiz will be based on the larger theme of elections. The other sub-themes shall include political system in India, democracy, constitution and governance.
The event is part of the numerous other initiatives of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in attracting the young people towards the democratic right of voting and making our vibrant democracy stronger.
All the election districts of the State have already conducted quizzes at the district level and the state level ‘EQ…the Election Quotient’ is expected to have teams coming from all of them.
However, there shall be no bar on the maximum number of teams coming from any educational institution to participate in the quiz.
The state level ‘EQ…the Election Quotient’ will be conducted in three stages: (i) a written preliminary round, (ii) two semi-finals featuring top 12 teams from the preliminary round and (iii) the grand finale featuring top six teams from the semi-finals.
The quiz carries a total prize money of Rs 42,000 besides trophies and certificates. The quiz master for ‘EQ…the Election Quotient’ is Dr Upakul Sarmah, assistant registrar, Tezpur University.
