Now Guwahatians are in for a new treat.

They will be served by robots in a restaurant of the city.

This innovative idea is being introduced from Thursday at ‘Uruka’ restaurant that specializes in ethnic cuisines.

This has come as a unique concept not only in Assam, but probably in the entire country.

The robot has been named ‘Palki’ and dressed in traditional Satriya attire.

Notably, the humanoid robot ‘Palki’ is being designed by the proprietor of the restaurant, S N Farid, himself.

Apart from Palki, he is also working on three more similar robots.

Farid informed Northeast Now that these human robots will also adorn traditional Assamese costumes and serve food to the customers in his restaurant.

He also informed that each human robot has cost him Rs two lakhs in the making.

Situated at Silpukhuri, Uruka restaurant that serves only ethnic cuisines and have only waitresses has been tickling the taste buds of the connoisseurs of food in Guwahati for the last two years.

The restaurant also serves traditional snacks that have become quite popular among its consumers.
