Assam’s Hojai Rongali Bihu Sanmelan is going to organize two days grand Rongali Bihu programme on May 10 and 11 next.
The programme will be organized at Gandhi Vidyapith High School in Hojai. For smooth functioning of the event an active committee is formed with Dr Samsul Haque as president, Jeevan Sarma and Dr Saidul Islam as working presidents, Ranjan Bora,Mridul Saika and Bapan Saha as secretaries, Ganjendra Nath Sarma as treasurer.
Several sub-committees are also formed for smooth functioning of the programme.
As per the scheduled programme on May 10, the event with begin with hoisting the Bihu flag at 9 am followed by a traditional procession at 9:30 am which will be taken out in the town.
From 11 am onward various sports competitions will be organized followed by a quiz competition at 2 pm and an extempore speech competition at 3 pm.
A cultural programmes and performance by local and invited artistes is scheduled from 8 pm onward.
Various sports competition are also lined up on the second day, that is, on May 11 from 2 pm onward.
From 7 pm onward, prize distribution ceremony and a souveneir ‘Rongali’ will be released followed by cultural programmes from 8 pm.
Noted singers Malavika Bora, Ansuman Paul and many more artistes will enthrall the audience by their mesmerizing performances on May 11.
Talking to NorthEast Now, Jeevan Sarma, working president of the Rongali Bihu Sanmellan, said, “Since 19 years Rongali Bihu is being celebrated every year with pomp and gaiety here, where people from all the communities irrespective of caste,creed, race take part with lots of enthusiasm.”
Sarma has further appealed the denizens of Hojai and nearby areas to take part in this event.
