A retired mothers’ home was inaugurated at the SOS Children’s Village in Assam’s Hojai on Sunday.
Anusuya Sharma and Mridusmita Borah, circle officers of Daboka and Hojai respectively graced the occasion as guests. The guests inaugurated the home and alloted rooms to two retired mothers.

However, accommodation is available for 10 retired mothers in this home.
Speaking on this occasion, circle officer of Hojai Mridusmita Borah and circle officer of Daboka, Anusuya Sharma lauded the efforts of SOS Children’s Village in setting up the retired mothers’ home. They said it is a humble approach by SOS Children’s Village for continuing support to the retired mothers. Earlier in the beginning of the programme, Village director Paresh Badyakar explained briefly the motto of the SOS Children’s Village, India.
He said the purpose of SOS Children’s Village is to build family for children who are in need of care, love, affection and protection thus provide them opportunity to have long lasting relationship. And this is possible because of mothers and aunts, he said.

He also said,”SOS mothers get accommodation as per mother status after their retirement at retired mothers’ home on availability of rooms.”
A cultural programme was also organized on this occasion where the children of the village enthralled the guests with their magnificent performances.
The programme ended with plantation drive at village campus.
