Assam Finance and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday laid the foundation stone of a bridge over river Kundil at government playground in Sadiya under Tinsukia district.

The 705.48 metre bridge over river Kundil will ease the communication of the villagers of Tupsingha.

Not only Tupsingha village, the concrete bridge will benefit the people of four panchayats under Sadiya after its completion.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that their BJP-led government is committed to work for the development of the people.

“The concrete bridge over river Kundil is a long-pending demand of the people of Tupsinga and today with the bhumi pujan, we laid the foundation stone of the bridge. Very soon, the work of the bridge will be completed,” Sarma said.

Sarma also said that after coming to power, BJP-led government started construction work of 5000 km concrete roads.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the people are safe and secure. We are committed to work for the all-round development of the society. Many development schemes were initiated after our government came to power and till date we have introduced many developmental schemes,” the Assam Finance and PWD minister said.

Sarma said their government has introduced free textbook distribution for the students of the schools.

“We have decided to provide Rs 25,000 to the widows and rehabilitate the boatmen of Dholla-Sadiya,” Sarma said.

Sadiya MLA Bolin Chetia said the concrete bridge over river Kundil will ease the communication bottleneck of the villagers.

He said during monsoon the people of Tupsinga village have to face lots of problems in crossing the river.

“After completion of the bridge, the people will be able to easily cross over the bridge,” Chetia said.

Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, Sadiya MLA Balin Chetia and a host of dignitaries were present during the programme.
