Wild elephant herd damages multiple houses in Palashbari, Assam, leaving families hmeoless and triggering panic.


Guwahati: Fresh incidents of human-elephant conflict have created panic in Tatibama Nirulpur area under Palashbari constituency in Assam, after a herd of wild elephants entered the village on saturday night and damaged several houses.

According to local residents, multiple homes were either partially damaged or completely destroyed in the incident. Houses belonging to Sarbeswar Kalita, Madhab Kalita, Bharatiya Kalita, and Mukut Kalita were among those affected, resulting in significant property loss.

Locals said that wild elephant herds have been frequently entering the area over the past few weeks. The repeated intrusions have led to destruction of houses, granaries, and standing crops, severely affecting daily life and livelihoods.

Residents further added that many families are now spending sleepless nights guarding their homes and trying to drive the elephants away, as fear continues to grow in the region.
