Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday visited Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) and took stock of the ongoing developmental works at AMCH.

Sarma discussed various issues related to AMCH principal Hiranya Kumar Goswami and other senior staff of the hospital.

Recently, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated a 300-beded mother and child care hospital at AMCH and laid a foundation stone for the construction of Dental College at AMCH campus.

Talking to the media, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “There are some issues at AMCH. It is difficult to get neurosurgery doctor but we have discussed all the problems and taking all necessary steps to solve it.”

On being asked about the incident of death of a man due to transfusion of wrong blood group at AMCH, he said authorities are probing the matter.

Recently, a 75-year old man Sidheswar Moran died after transfusion of wrong group of blood at the AMCH.

Sarma said that the work of 29 km National Highway would be completed before March 31.
