The Goalpara district administration of Assam and Aanjuman-e-Khademul Islam on Saturday jointly arranged a farewell programme at Town Haj bhawan for this year’s haj pilgrims from the district.

Presided over by Chandan Borgohain, election officer, the occasion was addressed and attended by Badaruddin Ajmal, MP and MLAs Abdur Rasid Mondal, Sahabuddin Ahmed, A K Rasid Alom and Hafij Bosir Ahmed Kasimi.

A total of 127 pilgrims, both male and female, are leaving for Saudi Arabia from Goalpara district for performing this year’s haj on different dates of July month.

Speaking on the occasion, Badaruddin Ajmal emphasized upon fulfilling and giving away the rights of the relatives, wife, neighbours prior to the haj performance.

He also announced Rs 25 lakhs for the renovation of the Haj Bhawan.

Chandan Borgohain wished on behalf of the district administration, a safe journey and a complete haj by fulfilling Islamic rituals.

M Ismail Hussain, president of Aanjuman-e-Khademul Islam and Dipak Nath, social worker, were also present among other prominent personalities.
