Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi visited Darrang district this evening on his way back from Udalguri where he attended a few public functions.
This is his first visit here after assuming office.
He will stay for the night in Mangaldai Circuit House before attending public functions on Wednesday.
He is due to visit some government run academic and health institutions of the district to take stock of the existing environment. This will be followed by a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall with representatives of different local non political public bodies, NGOs, leading citizens, and government officials in connection with the development of the district.
Then he will interact with the local media at Mangaldai Circuit followed by lunch. On way back to Guwahati in the afternoon the Governor will visit the historic farmers’ martyr park at Patharighat where he would pay homage to the martyrs, informed an official source.
