Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi said that the present Assamese society owes a great deal to the contribution of Vaishnavite exponent Sri Sri Badla Padma Aata and the prevailing peace, harmony and social order are dependent on the role of this Vaishnavite scholar.
Speaking at a three day celebrations of the 473rd birth anniversary of Sri Sri Badla Padma Aata in Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati on Thursday evening, Governor Prof Mukhi while paying rich tributes to this scholar and social reformer, said that Sri Sri Badla Padma Aata took the responsibility of carrying forward the unfinished works of Srimanta Sankardeva and Madhavdeva to their logical end.

The Governor also said that Srimanta made his emergence to the social and spiritual life of Assam at a time when the entire social life was stippled with turmoil. Srimanta Sankardeva wiped off ignorance and superstitions by spreading the lights of wisdom.
He said Srimanta Sankardeva handed over his unfinished works to his disciple Madhabdeva who in turn passed on the responsibility to Sri Sri Badla Padma Aata to preach Vaishnavite culture to every nook and corner of the state.
Prof Mukhi also said the Krishna Bhakti Movement found ever increasing followers in Assam and it moved from west to the east under the patronage of Sri Sri Badla Padma Aata who dropped anchor at Majuli and set up the Sattra there and began preaching his sermons.

The Governor also said that the Sattriya culture has become all pervasive in Assam and has become the identity of the state because of the unrelenting endeavour of Sri Sri Badla Padma Aata. He hailed the organizer Shree Shree Badla Padma Aata 473rd Birth Centenary Celebration Committee for organizing the programme.
He also appealed to the people at large to take a pledge of making a society of Sri Sri Sankardeva, Madhavdeva and Badla Aata’s dream and establish the inherent link of our state with its culture.
The three-day birth day anniversary and convention of Satra Culture was attended among others by Satradhikar of Uttar Kamalabari Satra Janardan Debo Goswami, MLA Dhemaji Ranoj Pegu, eminent cine personality Pranjal Saikia along with others.
