Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi assured a delegation of Kagajkal Majdoor Sangh of taking its demand to the Centre for the revival of Nagaon Paper Mill at Jagiroad in Morigaon district. This was stated in  a Raj Bhawan press release.

The four-member delegation led by the President of Kagajkal Majdoor Sangh Ashok Kumar Roy representing Kagajkal Majdoor Sangh of Jagiroad Paper Mill, a unit of Hindustan Paper Corporation, met Governor Prof Mukhi at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati on Saturday and submitted a memorandum and sought his intervention for the revival of the paper mill.

Governor Prof Mukhi while enquiring about the backdrop against which the Paper Mills in Jagiroad and Panchgram faced the closure, assured them to take the matter to the Centre to take positive actions and ensure their revival at the earliest possible time frame.

Responding to an assertion by the delegation that the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India are well aware of the situations leading to the closure of the paper mills, Prof Mukhi said that he would personally put in his words to the appropriate authority of both the ministries to work on a revival package. The delegation of Kagajkal Majdoor Sangh also submitted its memorandum to the Governor, the release added.
