As per reports, the solar lights are planned to be installed due to frequent disruption of power supply in flood affected areas.

Also, the water reservoirs will provide safe and clean drinking water to the inhabitants of the shelter homes .

Most of the schools of the state are turned into relief camps to house people who have been severely affected by floods which hampers the conduction of classes thereby affecting students’ education.

The floods usually hit Assam in three to four waves between June and September every year and many people are rendered homeless .

There have been high reports of the number of deaths cause due to flood in the state every year.

People in many areas of the state had to face many hardships during the time of floods.

Moreover, the problem of floods has not been solved much despite the construction and strengthening of embankments and flood walls, river training and bank protection works, anti-erosion works and construction/improvement of drainage and sluices.
