At a time when the hue and cry has hardly died down over the detention of ex-Army officer Mohamamd Sanaullah another case of detention has surfaced at Jorhat.

The Jorhat District Foreigners’ Tribunal on Tuesday declared Dolly Roy, a resident of Ward No 4 of Golaghat town as a ‘foreigner’.

Roy has been sent to the designated detention camp at Jorhat, which is Central Jail for people declared foreigners by the Jorhat Foreigners’ Tribunal.

Jailor (in-charge) of Central Jail, Jorhat, Firdus Rahman, confirmed that Dolly was lodged at the detention camp of the jail after the Foreigners’ Tribunal had declared her as a foreigner.

A source in the tribunal said that Roy was declared foreigner ex-parte as she reportedly failed to appear before the tribunal three times consecutively.

However, family members of Roy told media persons in Golaghat on Wednesday that Roy did not receive any notice from the tribunal to appear before the legal body.

Roy’s family members stated that they would appeal against the tribunal’s order in a higher authority.

Doli Roy, wife of Sanjib Roy, reportedly hails from Barpeta district.
