A free eye screening camp was organised by All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU), Hojai District Commiittee and AAMSU Nilbagan unit in association with ERC Eye Care Hospital, Nagaon at Nilbagan Model Higher Secondary School in Nilbagan under Hojai District of Assam on Tuesday.
The camp was inaugurated by Anshuya Sarma, circle officer, Doboka in the morning at around 9:30 am in the presence of Monwar Hussain (Bokul), vice president, All Assam Minority Students Union Central Commiittee, Fahim Iqbal Mazumdar, president, AAMSU Hojai District Commiittee, Lutfhur Rahman, general secretary, AAMSU Hojai commiittee and Kafiluddin Barbhuyan, social worker.
A team of doctors from ERC EYE Care Hospital attended and screened the patients. The team consisted of Arurindham Khanikar, Pallavi Gogoi, Arup Jyoti Kioot, Debyajyoti Das and AmarJyoti Borah.
Around 400 people were screened till evening 4 pm. Along with free checkup, free medicine and spectacles at minimal cost were distributed among the needy patients.
In the afternoon, the Deputy Commissioner of Hojai district Tanmoy Pratim Borgohain attented and took stock of activities in the eye camp. After that the deputy commissioner discussed about various problems of Nilbagan town, on many significant issues relating to education and others with the Faiz Mahmud Barbhuyan, principal of Nilbagan Model Higher Secondary School, members of AAMSU and with many other eminent persons of Nilbagan area.
