With a view to encourage the playwrights and artists of mobile theatre groups of the state, Assam Cultural Trust would organize public felicitation programme every year.
A decision in this regard was taken in the first Governing Body meeting of the Trust under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at Brahmaputra State Guest in the city on Saturday.

The Trust also decided to convene annual special events to showcase the rich and vibrant culture of the Barak valley and hill districts of the state.
Presiding over the proceedings of the meeting, Chief Minister Sonowal advised the Trust to take special measures for improving the infrastructure of ITA Pragjyoti Centre for Performing Arts, Machkhonwa.
He further advised the Trust to take steps for showcasing the cultural, religious, linguistic versatility and traditional life of seventy tribes of the state in the centre so that tourists could observe the rich cultural diversity.

Sonowal asked the Trust to initiate measures for setting up state of the art auditoriums in various towns of the state.
Minister of State for Cultural Affairs Naba Kumar Doley, Chief Minister’s Media Adviser Hrishikesh Goswami, Commissioner & Secretary of Cultural Affairs Department Pritom Saikia, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) M Angamuthu, Director of Cultural Affairs Deba Prasad Mishra and other members of the Trust were present in the meeting.
