A couple from Assam was found dead in a suspected case of suicide on Tuesday morning within their rented premises at St Inez in Goa’s Panaji.

According to a Times Of India report, Srimanta Borah, 31, was found hanging and his wife Rimpi, 22, was found lying dead on the bed in the house when Panaji police reached the scene. Police sources said the bodies have been sent to the Goa Medical College near Panaji for post-mortem examination and that the actual cause of death would only be determined after the postmortem reports were out.

“The wife is suspected to have consumed poison. Based on preliminary inquires, it appears to be a case of suicide,” TOI quoted a police source as saying.

While the husband was found with injury marks, no signs of struggle were visible on the woman, police said.

The couple was residing near the TB Hospital at St Inez. Srimanta worked as a security guard and Rimpi was employed in a shopping mall nearby. They had been living in Goa for the past two years.
