Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday condemned the blast in Sukreswar area in Guwahati responsibility of which has been claimed by militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I).

In a statement issued on Saturday, Chief Minister Sonowal said that because of the unstined support given by the people of Assam, process of development has been expedited in the state and the people belonging to Barak, Brahmaputra, Hills and Plains have been responding to the peace initiative of the government.

In the backdrop of all pervading peace and just to create fear psychosis among the people in the run up to Sharadiya Durga Puja, the attempt to destablise peace in the state is really condemnable, Sonowal added.

Just after the incident, Chief Minister Sonowal talked to top police officers in the state and asked them to find out the persons responsible for this dastardly incident and give them stringent punishment.

The Assam CM at the same time directed the Chief Secretary of the State to ensure best of the treatment for those sustained injury in the incident.

On the other hand, on the directive of Sonowal, Media and Legal Advisors of Chief Minister Hrishikesh Goswami and Shanatnu Bharali visited the injured persons in the hospital and talked to the hospital authority to give them best of the treatment.
