To celebrate Kati Bihu, which is one of the important festivals of the Assamese people, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reached his home in Dibrugarh on Thursday.

Kati Bihu which is also known as the Kongali Bihu was celebrated across Assam on Thursday.

After lighting earthen lamp in the midst of a paddy field in Baughpara village of Dibrugarh as part of tradition,  Assam Chief Minister Sonowal on his Twitter handle on Thursday stated: “Kati Bihu, a sacred festival of devotion, introspection and hope.”

Sonowal who also offered prayers in the paddy field along with other villagers of Baughpara further tweeted:  “Offered prayers on the occasion by lighting an earthen lamp with residents of Baughpara village, Dibrugarh.”

Sonowal was also accompanied by Dibrugarh’s BJP MLA Prashanta Phukan and the MP of Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency, Rameshwar Teli.

Meanwhile, Assam Governor Jagadish Mukhi and Chief Minister Sonowal extended best wishes to the people of the State on the occasion of Kati Bihu hoping that the festival would bring in peace and prosperity in the State.
