Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to be present at the dinner to be hosted by Modi on January 25 in New Delhi in the honour of the heads of State or governments of all the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) who have been invited as Chief Guests to the Republic Day parade and celebrations on January 26 in the national capital.

Sonowal has been invited to the dinner considering the crucial role that Assam and other North Eastern States can play in the success of the Act East Policy.

It may be noted that Prime Minister Modi has enunciated the Act East Policy which aims at better interaction with ASEAN countries. Assam and other Northeastern States have a special place in the implementation of the Act East Policy.

It may be mentioned that the Government of Assam is organising Global Investors’ Summit for the first time on February 3 and February 4, 2018 with the tagline Advantage Assam: India’s Expressway to ASEAN.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Summit on February 3. A numbers of ministers from ASEAN countries are expected to be present at the Summit.

Besides Chief Minister Sonowal, a number of Assam minister have visited a number of countries to invite investors to attend the Global Investors’ Summit in Assam.

It may be mentioned that the Government of Assam is organising Global Investors’ Summit for the first time on February 3 and February 4, 2018 with the tagline Advantage Assam: India’s Expressway to ASEAN.
