A carcass of a royal Bengal tiger was found near the Baruntika forest camp under Kohora range of the Kaziranga National Park on Wednesday.
It is believed that the male tiger died of fierce dual with another of the same species around two weeks back inside the national park.

The carcass was discovered by forest guards on duty on Wednesday morning.
On getting the information a strong team led by Director of Kaziranga National Park, Periyasami Sivakumar rushed to the spot where the carcass of the tiger was found.
The team comprised DFO Rohini Ballav Saikia, representatives of national tiger census body, representatives of NGOs, veterinarians and journalists.

Veterinarians Dr Panjit Basumatary and Dr Parikshit Kalita conducted post mortem on the carcass of the royal Bengal tiger in the presence of the Director of the national park.
The post mortem report indicated fatal injuries on the carcass inflicted by another tiger.
The post mortem also confirmed that the male tiger which was approximately eight years old died of a fight with another tiger.
Later the carcass was put to flames in the presence of all the representatives in the team.
Meanwhile, researcher Pabindra Sarma of the national park has begun identification of the tiger from the remains of the skin.
