A bus carrying a marriage party met with a tragic road mishap leaving two people dead and 30 injured on Wednesday morning on the National Highway at Singimari in Abhayapuri area in Western Assam’s Bongaigaon district.
The incident led to the death of two people in addition to injuring 30 others travelling in the bus.
As per reports, the bus (AS 03 BC 6566) which was travelling from Jorhat to Dhubri lost control and knocked down a woman before rammed into a roadside tree.
The woman, identified as Junu Rai, 40, died on the spot. The brother of the groom, Bedanta Das also died in the accident.
The people who have been injured in the accident have been rushed to local hospitals with the help of local residents.
Some of them have been taken to Bongaigaon Civil Hospital and some to Abhayapuri Civil Hospital.
According to information, two of the injured people are reported to be in a critical condition.
Eyewitnesses said that Rai who was standing by the side of her house was knocked down by the speeding bus leaving her dead on the spot.
