Grandmaster Diptayan Ghosh from Assam clinched the title of second International Fide Rating Chess Tournament that concluded at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium in Guwahati on Friday.
Ghosh was awarded a trophy and prize-money of Rs 50,000.
Altogether 251 players from different states participated in the meet organized by the Assam Chess Players Parents’ Association in association with Guwahati Chess Association and All Assam Chess Association.
Former Meghalaya governor RS Mooshahary was the Chief Guest of the presentation ceremony.
The vice-president of the Sports Authority of Assam Queen Ojah and others were also present at the ceremony.
Prizes were also conferred on the winners of various categories.
