Women boxers from Assam Lovlina Borgohain and Bhagyabati Kachari were given a warm welcome at the SAI complex in Guwahati on Monday for their performance at the recently concluded AIBA Womens World Boxing Championship in New Delhi.
The Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) organized the felicitation programme.

Receiving the felicitation, the lanky Assam boxer Lovelina said it would have been better had the colour of the medal been different. “However, I lost to a superior boxer (Chen Nien Chin of Chinese Taipei) in the semifinal despite my best effort,”.
She further expressed her determination to improve in the days to come and hoped she will do better in international events.
Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Pabitra Ram Khound, SAI Regional Centre Director Dr Subhash Basumatary, State boxing body president Kalikanta Boro, secretary Hemanta Kumar Kalita and Sports Secretary Meera Gogoi Sonowal were present on the occasion.

The AABA presented Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 to Lovlina and Bhagyabati respectively.
