The Assam Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) headquarters at Hemgerabari here resounded with festivity on Saturday afternoon as party supporters gathered in huge numbers to celebrate the party’s historic win at Left-ruled Tripura.

Attributing this victory to the vision and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they have predicted more than 350 seats for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in 2019 Lok Sabha election.

“People of Tripura have given huge message through ‘Chalo Paltai.’ We were almost zero in Tripura five years back and from there getting almost two-third majority is a huge victory. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has a spotless image and he has been ruling for so long. Despite this, we have managed to topple his government,” Rajkumar Tiwari, Councillor, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) told Northeast Now.

“The wave which has started from Tripura will sweep West Bengal next. In the next Lok Sabha election, NDA will get even bigger majority with more than 350 seats,” Tiwari added.

Another party worker Gitika Das, who is a State Executive Member of BJP Mohila Morcha said that people have woke up from their slumber and have joined Modi in his journey towards development.

“Earlier, Marxist people were running Tripura with borrowed ideology. But now people of Tripura have woke up from their slumber and decided to join our Prime Minister in his journey towards development. We are proud that lotus is blooming all over the country,” Das said.

Another party member Niyoti Dey admitted that defeating CPI (M) in Tripura is a bigger achievement than beating Congress in Assam.

“Few years back, it was unthinkable that BJP could come to power in Tripura. The impossible has been made possible due to the unwavering attention of our Prime Minister towards Northeast and unflinching commitment and discipline of our party workers on the ground. We have defeated Congress earlier in many states but this is the first time, we have won a state which has been ruled by Left for last 25 years,” Dey said.
