Assam BJP minority cell chief Mominul Awal launched a verbal attack against All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi for his comments against the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Awal said that the AIMM chief has no knowledge about the social life in the state and is just trying to create religious disputes with his controversial statements.

Owaisi had recently said that the BJP is trying to create a NRC on the basis of religion and that the saffron party will bring out a Citizenship Amendment Bill for giving citizenship to many non-Muslims in the country.

The AIMM chief had also stated the NRC has busted the so-called myth of illegal migrants.

Apart from lashing out at Owaisi, Awal also hit out at Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for his statement that “Modi Govt’s ethnic cleansing of Muslims should send alarm bells ringing across the world”.

Awal claimed that Muslims feel much safer in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule whereas Muslims are being killed in mosques in Pakistan.

He said that the indigenous Muslims of Assam whose names have not been included in the final NRC list should not worry as their names will surely be added.
