Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a man from Sarupeta in Bajali district lost his life after he met with an accident in the Panbazar area of Guwahati on Saturday.
As per initial reports, the man was riding his scooter on his way to the office bearing registration number ‘AS01 FN 0144’ when a speeding Baleno allegedly hit him.
The Baleno then sped off, leaving the man lifeless on the ground.
According to the police, the exact circumstances of the accident can only be known after the police have a look at the CCTV footage of the location.
The deceased has been later identified as Bhargab Jyoti Barman, working in a bank and hailing from Sarupeta in Bajali district.
The unfortunate incident occurred when he was on his way to work Saturday morning.
After the lethal accident, the local police arrived at the scene and sent the body to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.
