All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students Association (ACKHSA), has threatened to resort to massive protests post July 30 for those genuine citizens whose names would be left out from the final draft of National Registrar of Citizens (NRC).

Disclosing this at a press briefing at Silchar’s Circuit House on Wednesday, chief advisor of ACKHSA, Rupam Nandi Purkayastha, informed that, “We are anxiously waiting for July 30 to come. If genuine citizens’ names are left out belonging to non-Assamese community of this region, ACKHSA would resort to protest, that can be vigourous and spine chilling.”
He also quipped that a malicious practice is going on to delete names of many people of this region.
If a section of the so called intellectuals of Brahmaputra Valley thinks of Barak Valley to be a part of ‘cancer’, deleting it from Assam would be a right choice, he further said.
“ACKHSA is wholeheartedly supporting Bodoland’s demand for a separate state and likewise, if Barak Valley needs to be separated, we would support it,” Purkayastha further said.
The Centre has always advocated for delimitation of power, for which, having many small states have come out of the mouth of top BJP officials in the past, said, Purkayastha, pointing fingers at BJP’s national vice president, S S Ahluwalia, who said so in a meeting in Darjeeling in March this year.
Coming down heavily on chief advisor of All Assam Students Union (AASU), Sammujal Bhattacharjee, and his band of followers, Purkayastha said that they are running a ‘parallel government’ in Assam.
Prateek Hajela, the state coordinator of NRC in Assam, is following what the AASU asks him to do so or the way they want the final draft to end up.
Though when asked by the media for having talks with AASU to clear each other’s stand on this issue of NRC and Citizens Amendment Bill, Purkayastha said, he doesn’t mind in having discussions with another students’ body, but the invitation for the same should come first from AASU’s end for it being an elderly students’ body of the State.
