Assam: Army upgrades Tinsukia club to help local youths pursue sports

The initiative to upgrade the club with essential sports equipment will meet the needs of the local youth and help them pursue sports while spreading a social message of incorporating a healthy sports culture

Guwahati: Demonstrating its dedication to community welfare, the Indian Army undertook upgradation of the Konsapathar Sports Club in Tinsukia district of Assam.

The project included providing various sports equipment, including footballs, goal post nets, volleyballs, badminton rackets, shuttlecocks, cricket bats, balls, batting gloves, helmets, chest guards, basket balls, rings, carrom boards and chess boards, among others, a Defence spokesperson said.

Moreover, support stores, including steel almirahs, storage racks, tables and stools besides others were distributed in a simple ceremony held on Saturday, he added.  

The event was attended by students, village headmen and sports enthusiasts.

The sports club was constructed in 2023 to foster the spirit of sportsmanship.
