In a joint operation by the Army, CRPF and Chirang Police, an armed cadre of the anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) has been nabbed in Assam’s Chirang district.
The troops of Army based in Chirang district along with Assam Police and the CRPF launched the joint operation on specific intelligence inputs.

“A suspicious person, who was in possession of illegal arms and earlier evaded arrest, was apprehended following a search operation,” sources said.
Official sources said, “The nabbed person has been identified as Raju Brahma of Dwimiguri village in Chirang district. He is a locally-trained cadre of the NDFB(S).”
After questioning of the cadre, further search operation was launched in his house and its premises.

“At late night and early morning on Sunday, a package covered in plastic was found in the house of his backyard. The same was opened in front of other villagers,” official sources said.
The packet contained foreign-made weapons and ammunition which included one foreign-made single bore rifle, 10 live rounds of AK47 rifle and hand grenade.
The weapons and ammunition were subsequently seized by Chirang Police and were taken to Panbari police station along with the nabbed militant.
“He is under police custody for further investigation and legal proceedings,” official sources said.
The successful operations carried out recently in the area display high degree of cooperation among various security forces.
“It has resulted in drastic shock to the nefarious designs of NDFB(S) in the region,” the security force officials said.
