Ajmal, who is also the Dhubri Lok Sabha MP, said, โWe thought that the Supreme Court of India has been monitoring the whole NRC updating process. So, we were silent though we suspected BJPโs conspiracy behind missing of over 40 lakh people in the final draft NRC. But, Shahโs statement in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday proved that the BJP interfered the whole NRC update process which led missing of more than 40 lakh people in the final draft of the NRC.โ

โThe BJP-led Government and the concerned authorities had assured us not to worry as the Supreme Court had been monitoring the whole NRC update process. But Shahโs statement dismissed the assurance of the Government on Tuesday,โ Ajmal said.
Amit Shah in the Rajya Sabha had said: โNRC is being conducted on SC (Supreme Court) order. There are 40 lakh people (missing in the list)โฆ Whom do you want to save? You want to save illegal Bangladeshisโฆ this was the Congress PMโs initiative. He (Rajiv Gandhi) did not have the courage. We have courage and we are doing it.โ
