Assam: AGP leader Phani Bhushan Choudhury admitted to hospital

Assam civil supplies and consumer affairs minister and AGP MLA of Bongaigaon Phani Bhushan Choudhury was on Tuesday rushed to Health City Hospital at Khanapara in Guwahati due to serious illness.

The senior politician on Monday was present when AGP’s Birendra Prasad Baishya filed his nominations for the ensuing Rajya Sabha elections slated for June 7 next in Guwahati.

However, Choudhury shockingly became very sick shortly after the nominations had been filed.

It is still unknown as to why the senior AGP leader became sick so suddenly. His current condition has been declared to be stable by the hospital staff.

Born on May 1, 1952, Choudhury has a distinct record of representing a constituency for the seventh consecutive time in the Assam Legislative Assembly.

Choudhury was the chairman of Public Accounts Committee, from 2009-2011. He was also a leader of AGP Legislature Party from 2011-2016.
