A familiarization exercise (FAMEX) has been conducted all over the district by personnel of the 12 Bn NDRF, Itanagar in coordination with the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Golaghat.
The exercise, which began on August 17, will continue till Wednesday covering all the revenue circles of the district, including Assam-Nagaland border areas of Uriamghat and Gomariguri development blocks.
The exercise is being conducted with the objective to acquaint the people living in the vulnerable, especially flood-prone areas of the district and make them aware about probable disasters and train them about basic rescue techniques using locally available resources for responding to any emergency.
The 12 Bn NDRF personnel, led by Inspector Bojesh Leivon and nine others, have been visiting these vulnerable locations along with district project officer of the DDMA, Ronney Rajkumar.
The FAMEX has so far been successfully carried out in Bokakhat, Morongi, Khumtai, Dergaon, Uriamghat in association with revenue circle officers, border magistrates and field officers of DDMA.
