Imphal: An Assistant Sub Inspector of the Manipur Police Department has been suspended from his service after a video of him violating police guidelines reached the Director General of Manipur Police, according to a report.

The suspended ASI identified as S Chandrakumar was posted at the Imphal East District Police Station but attached as the Commando of the Imphal West district police.

The suspension was made when ASI Chandrakumar in a police uniform violated the police procedures against a truck driver.

The goods-laden truck was plying towards Imphal from Khatkhati Assam on the National Highway 102 at Imphal West district on Friday night.

The excesses of the Assistant Sub Inspector while encountering the truck driver went viral on social media.

K Meghachandra, Superintendent of Police, Imphal East District in an office memorandum, states that a Departmental Inquiry under Rule 66 Part-III of the Assam Police Manual (APM) is being contemplated against the Assistant Sub Inspector.

He was placed under suspension from his service with immediate effect and until further orders.

During the period under which this order remains in force, S Chandrakumar shall be in Reserve Line, Imphal East district police and he shall not leave the station without prior permission of the concerned Police Officer.

The report added that his pay and allowances are restricted to the subsistence allowances admissible as per the Rules.
