Two women entrepreneurs, Tage Rita and Techi Anna, from Arunachal Pradesh have been conferred the Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
Rita, the country’s first kiwi wine brewer, will receive the award for the year 2015-16, while Anna will receive hers for ‘excellence in handicrafts’ for the year 2016-17, informed sources.
DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh will present the award at a function scheduled to be held at the NCUI Convention Centre, Hauz Khas in New Delhi on April 26.
“The duo is among 17 women entrepreneurs from the Northeast who have been conferred the prestigious award for the years 2015-16 and 2016-17,” informed the event’s organizer, Guwahati-based Sreemanta Shankar Mission.
Apart from the state awardees, five exceptionally successful women entrepreneurs from the region will be inducted into the Vasundhara Hall of Fame.
The title winner of 2015-16 and 2016-17 from among the 17 state awardees will also be declared during the award ceremony.
The award is considered a benchmark for women entrepreneurs in Northeast India who have reached quantifiable levels of success and excellence by hard work and perseverance.
Past Vasundhara awardees include Lalmuankimi of Mizoram (2012-13), Moirenthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur (2013-14) and Najitara Bori of Assam (2014-15).
The awards ceremony will be part of a two-day conclave on April 25 and 26 organized by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.
The conclave will have exhibitions and display of products from enterprises owned by women in North-east India, B2B meets and seminar and workshops on prospects and challenges before women entrepreneurs working in sectors such as handlooms and textiles, food processing, agriculture, tourism, beauty and wellness and manufacturing amongst others.
